UNDERCURRENT

The New York City subway has its own rhythm and energy—distinct from the world above. Commuters navigate the flow of the underground, going from train to train before returning to the surface.

I used long exposure techniques to capture the patterns of this movement. This approach allowed me to emphasize the continuous flow while highlighting brief moments of isolation and individuality.

The project came together as I began to see the subway less as a transportation system and more as a current with its own personality and energy — separate from life above ground. The resulting images reflect this flow of energy and the fleeting presence of the people within it.
